Our governance
The External, Alliance and Cooperation Office is led by the Secretary of State and administered by its senior Civil Service and Diplomatic Service leadership. Its governance covers external relations, diplomatic activity, alliances, consular functions, development-style cooperation and the sponsorship of external intelligence bodies.
Current ministerial offices and responsibilities are published in the List of Ministerial Responsibilities. Senior officials remain accountable for the administration, governance, risk and delivery of the department within the Civil Service.
