About us

Lord Lieutenant’s Treasury is the government’s economic and finance ministry, maintaining control over public spending, setting the direction of economic policy and safeguarding the responsible use of public resources.

Responsibilities

We are responsible for:

  • public spending, departmental expenditure and spending approvals
  • fiscal policy and budget discipline
  • taxation and revenue policy
  • economic policy, growth and productivity
  • public finance rules and financial assurance across government
  • procurement and commercial control
  • public-sector pay, reward and workforce funding controls
  • public value, value for money and investment appraisal
  • financial services, financial conduct and payment-system policy where these fall within United Hampshire jurisdiction
  • debt-management policy and the Government Debt Management Function
  • financial-risk, anti-scam, fraud and conflict-of-interest safeguards
  • stewardship and control of State-level Robux and other authorised public resources

Priorities

Our priorities are to:

  1. keep the public finances and authorised public resources on a sustainable and controlled footing
  2. support strong and sustainable economic activity while maintaining financial discipline
  3. make sure public money and equivalent resources are spent responsibly and deliver value
  4. maintain effective procurement, financial assurance and anti-fraud safeguards
  5. support departments and public bodies with clear funding, accountability and financial-control routes

Objectives

Our objectives are to maintain sound public finances, support sustainable economic policy and ensure that public resources are authorised, recorded, controlled and used for proper public purposes.

Who we are

We are the finance and economic department of the United Hampshire Government.

The department is led by the Chancellor of the Exchequer. No.11 Harrington Court is the official office and executive residence associated with the Chancellor and Lord Lieutenant’s Treasury.

The Chief Minister is First Lord of the Treasury. Lord Lieutenant’s Treasury retains the principal functional responsibility for public money, public spending, taxation, fiscal policy and economic policy.
